Selection Sunday is just over a month away teams and the debate has already started as to which teams are worthy of bids to the NCAA tournament.
The most teams a conference has ever sent to the NCAA tournament is eight, but at least one Big East coach thinks that record could fall.
In an interview with The Junkies on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, via SportsRadioInterviews.com, Georgetown coach John Thompson III said he thinks there could be as many of 12 Big East teams worthy of this year’s expanded field of 68.
“I think that it could be more than that,” Thompson said when asked if 10 Big East teams can make the Big Dance. “I think that it is too early to start thinking about that right now, but I do know that there are 10, 11, 12 teams in the Big East that are among the best 64, 68 teams in the country.”
Do you agree with Thompson? Do you think the selection committee would really invite 10 Big East teams into the tournament.
