Golden State Warriors

News and information on the Golden State Warriors

Depending on who you rooted for, anyone could agree that this game didn’t have much riding on as both clubs are most likely not heading into the postseason, and are destined for the lottery, but hey, a win is a win.

The Portland Trail Blazers welcomed in the Golden State Warriors for the last meeting of the season, the Blazers would be without All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge to a hip injury (more about that later), leaving J.J. Hickson to take his place in the starting lineup.

Both these teams are similar, on the outside-looking-in of the Western Conference playoff race, these two teams made some serious roster changes at the trade deadline and are looking to stir the pot further during the offseason.

While all of the focus leading up the the NBA’s March 15 trade deadline continues to be on Dwight Howard, there are other teams out there who actually serious about getting deals done.

In fact, the first big deal to transpire occurred Tuesday night when the Milwaukee Bucks traded Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson to the Golden State Warriors for forward Ekpe Udoh, center Kwame Brown and high-scoring guard Monta Ellis.

For Warriors fans, on the surface this seems like a bit of a head-scratcher.

On Tuesday the Warriors announced the hiring of Mark Jackson to replace Keith Smart, giving the former point guard and television analyst his first chance to be a head coach.

The Memphis Grizzlies weren’t quick enough to the table. Or maybe it was the Pacers fault. But the supposed deal that would’ve sent O.J. Mayo to Indiana wasn’t finalized before the 3pm Eastern Time cutoff. With that being said, here is a quick list of all the important names that are currently on the move after a crazy week of trades.

  • Nazr Mohammed to the Thunder.
  • Marquis Daniels to the Kings.
  • Aaron Brooks to the Suns for Goran Dragic.
  • Semih Erden and Luke Harangody to the Cavaliers.
  • Gerald Wallace to the Blazers.
